BIOGRAPHY
Born in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in the Russian Far East, Daniel Kharitonov emerged as one of the brightest talents of the 15th Tchaikovsky International Competition when, in 2015 at the age of 16, he won third prize with a triumphant performance. Wherever he appears, Kharitonov charms the audience with powerful and moving performances full of young ferocity and darting energy. Daniel is a laureate of multiple international competitions, his other achievements includes 1st prize (Golden Nutcracker) at the International Television Contest for Young Musicians “Nutcracker” (2010) and Grand-Prix at the Moscow International Vladimir Krainev Piano Competition (2015).
Daniel Kharitonov is a member of jury of the XXV International Television Contest for Young Musicians “Nutcracker” (2024) and the VI Moscow International Vladimir Krainev Competition (2025).
Highlights from previous seasons includes his debut with RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Michail Jurovsky as well as Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire under Antoni Wit, Orchestra Lyrique de Region Avignon Provence.
Daniel’s performances took a place at the Verbier Festival’s residency at Schloss Elmau, Windsor and Lammermuir festivals, as well as the Sociedad Filarmónica de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, following his successful debuts at the Auditorio de Zaragoza and the Scherzo series in Madrid. He also had a successful recital debut at Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
Later, he embarks on an extensive tour to South Africa working with the Johannesburg, KZN and Cape Town philharmonic orchestras, debuts with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Christoph Altstaedt, London Chamber Orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy both in London (Royal Festival Hall) and as part of the Ghent Festival of Flanders, Ural Philharmonic Orchestra and Dmitry Liss, Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, season opening concerts with Philharmonisches Orchester Hagen and the Thüringer Symphoniker Saafeld-Rudolstadt and Kharitonov’s Latin American debut with the Orquestra Sinfônica Municipal de São Paulo, Orquestra Filarmónica de Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico and Orquestra Filarmónica de Jalisco.
Recent engagements also included re-invitations to the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, State Academic Symphony Orchestra "Evgeny Svetlanov", Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio under Vladimir Fedoseyev, National Philharmonic of Russia under Vladimir Spivakov and Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev.
Daniel had successfully performed in a more than 50 countries around the world, devoting a special attention to the Asian region, where he held a numerous concert tours in Japan, China and South Korea. Along with the solo recital tours in the best concert halls (such as Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Suntory Hall, Osaka NHK Hall, Minatomirai Concert Hall, Kyoto Concert Hall etc.), a plenty of tours were completed in productive cooperation with NHK Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra (Japan), China Philharmonic, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St.Petersburg Philharmonic (China) and KBS Symphony Orchestra (South Korea). Daniel's recitals were broadcasted on the biggest TV channels of Japan and Korea on NHK and KBS respectively.
